Patchwork plains - Maleny, Sunshine coast - An original painting.
A large vibrant work in this series measuring 83cm x 63cm Framed in a light Oak floating frame.
Part of my current mark making series of works, capturing the imagination, inspired by time spent on the sunshine coast in Australia. A landscape once seen and then imagined.
The pastel tones used in this abstract work create a tranquil pixelated abstract that remind me of patchwork, evoking memories of childhood days.
Maleny is on the sunshine coast, and always worth visiting, it's full of inspiration and does attract the creatives, so it's a perfect reference used in the title of this work.
This work evolved from an experimental process over the last 3 years, this work is part of a body of work where the focus moves to the tiny shapes and details of the banksia and protea flowers.
These brush strokes are usually purposefully unconnected, the space between has as much significance as the organic shaped brush strokes. The size and form are dictated by the type of brush and the painting mixing.
The floating frame leaves a 7mm gap between the canvas and frame creating a striking shadow line around the work.
