The works in this series are inspired by the landscapes, ocean, fauna and flora of Australia, this work references sand and sky and of course my passion for the Impressionists.
This is an emotive work exploring the state of mind, there is order and confusion within the layers of paint. Much is left here for the viewer to interpret. The title is a nod to a favorite impressionist. This body of work moves away from the still life compositions featuring native flowers, and explores the freedom to create using mark making techniques.
The artist usually utilizes short square brushes to create blocks of color and contrast when including mark making in her work, covering only parts of the canvas. Where as, this work features a multitude of repetitive marks consuming the entire canvas. The appearance of the marks are influenced by the tonal back ground the size of the brush and a limited palette.
