Mark making is a therapy all of its own, the brush strokes have a unique quality each organic in shape giving the canvas a sense of movement over layers of paint allowing the background to emerge.
Each brushstroke can be likened to a stitch on a tapestry or a piece of mosaic, a brush shaped mark creating a mesmerizing layer. Each in turn taking its place in the bigger picture, until the composition is finally resolved. Life has a sense of mystery at the moment, nothing is clear and much leaves you in doubt of what is behind it all, these works are indeed a veneer over the reality. Hope this resonates with you.
